Exploring My Options

I say that tongue in cheek, what I am really doing is exploring all the links on the dashboard page of WordPress just to see what they do.  Just what options are available to me and how do they work?  I found so many different things it was mind boggling.  I am afraid to admit that I had no clue what some of them meant or what they did and I have been using and teaching computers for a long time.  After exploring and finding the many many different things that could be added to a page I began to understand why the patrons that I taught always had a dazed look when they came to my class to learn how to use the internet.  With all the buttons and gadgets and widgets and icons and avatars and links and advertisement and… do I need to go on… that can be added to a page it is easy to lose the most important part, the part that a writer wants every one to read, their blog or their site.   I kept wanting to add just one more button until I realized that my page was getting just as cluttered.  And then I started deleting them…oh my what a dilemma…do they stay or do they go?  I finally settled on a few that will remain and got rid of the rest.

I updated a couple pages, changed some titles, and basically tried to make my blog look the way I wanted it to look.  I thought about changing the background and then decided against it.  I like the artistry and colors of my current background, but I am glad to note that my options in that area are still wide open.  Who knows maybe someday in the near future I may change my mind and search for something new that will add new flavor to my pages.  We shall see.
