Merry Christmas

christmas_timeI know that many won’t even open this blog post to read it simply because I used the words Merry Christmas.  But it has been way too long since I wrote a post and this is what is on my heart today.

Christmas time is a time of celebration.  There are many different holidays all lumped in there at the same time.  I am so tired of the political correctness that has taken over our world.  Instead of celebrating each life for what it is, a gift. We are arguing over nonsense.  Whether we say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Chanukah, Feliz Navidad, Happy Kwanza, or some many other things, it really doesn’t matter.  As long as one is attempting to spread joy, happiness, and togetherness, then nothing else matters.

There are so many people hurting at this time of year.  Loved ones are no longer with us, friends have moved away, family is long distance.  The only thing that truly matters is how much you have loved someone.  Have you loved them so much that they look back in their lives and say “Hey he/she was one heck of a person, I miss them so.”, or do they say, “Are you kidding, that was the meanest person I ever knew.”

I can only hope that when people think of me, I reflect the first statement.  I just finished reading “The Christmas Blessing” by Donna Vanliere.  I had to put it down a couple times because I knew just from the words that were written that the next part was going to be a tear jerker.  I hope you will read this book too.  It has some twists and turns that are unexpected, but the tears that you will cry will be worth it if it causes you to look at your life too.  To sit and ponder and reflect on your influences on those around you.  Have you made a difference in someone’s life that wasn’t negative?  Have you let the joy of the season flow through you and out of you towards others?  If you haven’t let it start with me.  Merry Christmas dear friend, may your heart be full of peace, your words be filled with happiness and your days be surrounded by loved ones, including the memories of those that are dear to your heart.

May your new year be filled with laughter, love, hope and joy.
