The Hazards of Writing on a Computer

I was having a mental block getting the written portion of my book started.  So based on past writing experiences, I have decided that I would write my story the old fashioned way.  Pen and paper.  It is going well for the most part, I keep starting and stopping.  Part of the reason is because I have scanned my pictures so that I would not have to take them out of my drawing pad and with my husbands help I have organized them in the order that I wanted to write about.

Having put the pictures in order on the computer I quickly realized that I needed a visual reminder of that order, just so I could write my story with any sort of sense of direction.  That’s where the computer is bad for me.  For example, I am here writing this blog instead of working on my story.  I am using the computer as a distraction.  The other window I have open is Facebook, so I am the queen of multi-tasking right now.

1. Hand writing a story.

2. Typing the written story into a document.

3.  Adjusting the picture sizes when I am finished with writing the part of the story about that picture so it comes up on the next page.

3.  Chatting on Facebook.

4.  Typing a blog.

5.  Getting ready to eat dinner.

Something is going to go.  And right now, it looks like it is going to be both the writing and the computer.  Dinner is ready and I am hungry.

Have a great writing time this weekend.

I know what you mean…I write everything by hand into a spiral, then type it on my blog, then as you say, switching back to see what’s happening on Face Book, and when I need to do some thinking…I’ll play a match 3 game on the computer. 🙂 It all gets done…somehow! Thanks for sharing your post!
