Help Me Color My Giraffe Contest Winners

The contest is now over for the sweater color contest.  I didn’t have as many submissions as I wished for but the color combinations were all great.  So rather than only picking three color combinations I have decided to pick all five of the submissions as winners of the color choice contest for my Gemma Giraffe illustrations.  Because I use gel pens, sharpies, and an assortment of other pens and markers I will try to come as close to your color choice as possible.

Kyriakh123 I loved your submission of: Crimson, bright yellow, magenta, Opaque, and Wedge-wood blue.  It was one extra color but I think I have a unique way to include the opaque color in with the rest to give the sweater I create with you in mind a really interesting twist.

Mom and Ed, your color choices of pink, purple, turquoise/blue, black/copper were so closely matched I am going to use all those colors in a sweater together, it should make for a really colorful sweater. I will be giving this picture to my mom, but Ed you will be able to see it in my book when it is finished.

Now Ed – you submitted two color choices and I really liked your second one of: red, green, yellow and gray so I am going to create a sweater with these colors in it just for you.

Tric – your colors of Light blue, bright orange, lime green, and purple have already been incorporated into a drawing.  I liked the combination so much it was the first drawing I completed after the colors were submitted. I didn’t even wait for the contest to end to start using them.  I hope you will like your picture.

Gladys – your color choices were very specific, silver, buttery yellow, strawberry red, and royal purple. I am going to need to search for a marker that is buttery yellow, but I have pens that are really close to the other colors that will work well in a design together.

For those of you that submitted color choices that have facebook, please send me a private message with your shipping addresses.  When I have your picture completed and matted I will send you a message to let you know to be on the look out for a package.  The rest of you that aren’t on facebook and already have my email, just send me your address in an email message.  I will send you an email letting you know the picture is on the way.

These pictures take a few days to complete but I have been working pretty steady on them so it won’t take as long as you might think. I have one picture drawn in pencil already, I just need to add color and so that just leaves 3 others to complete.  When I get the prints made that will be matted for you, I want them to be professionally done so that may take  a little longer.

When I am finished with your drawings, I will only have 2 left to complete the series and then it will be on to the writing phase and the search for a publisher.

I have been having so much fun with this process.  I can’t wait to see it in book format.  I would love some publishing tips if you have any you are willing to share.

Congratulations to all my winners, thank you for helping with the creation phase of this book.
