500 Words A Day Challenge and A Challenge (Contest) of My Own

I failed miserably on the 500 words a day challenge.  I think I only wrote 4 times in the 30 days, but I finished 4 drawings and started another. I have 9 drawings totally complete and the 10th is ready to start the coloring stage.  Because of my desire to draw I have had to decide what my priorities are and at this point it isn’t the writing side of my creativity.  I have a couple blogging friends that write instructional art books on a regular basis.  They are doing everything in the book from writing about the subject to illustrating and even learning new art techniques so they can teach how to do that in their books.  Sometimes they even make videos and teach classes in classroom settings.  And they do all that while juggling working, being a wife, and a mother.  They are inspirations, when I grow up I want to be just like them.  I want to be able to juggle all the balls that are in the writing path I have chosen, but I will take my time getting there.

To see who actually reads my blog I have decided to come up with a challenge (Contest) for you; my readers.

So here is my challenge (Contest!) idea:  I am illustrating an (at this time) unwritten children’s book about a sweater loving giraffe.  Below are snapshots of the sweaters I have created so far.  The challenge for you is to comment on my Facebook post or on this post.  In your comment I want you to list a color combination using four colors which will be used in one of my sweater designs.  I will test those colors out side by side to see if they work for me.  Be creative, you will be surprised how the least expected color choice works together. If your color combination is chosen for one of my sweaters, I will send the winners a matted copy (not framed) of the giraffe wearing their sweater.  I have 7 more pictures to draw, so I will be choosing 3 winners. Don’t ask how I came up with that number.  Please only comment once either on Facebook or here so everyone will have a chance to win.  That is why you need to be creative.  The best color combination(s) will be winners.

Please, don’t make your color choices based on the color pallet I have used.  I am using my favorites and I am partial to blues/purples.  I want something unique that will stand out and be a challenge for me.

My illustrations take about a week start to finish to draw, so if your color combination is chosen I will send you a reply on your comment letting you know that you are one of the winners.  I like to keep personal stuff like addresses and phone numbers private.  So, if I notify you that you have been chosen as one of the winners please reply in a private message with your address so I can keep everything private. For my overseas readers, I will also ship overseas.

Okay, here goes, these are in no particular order:

Sweater 1 Sweater 2 Sweater 3 Sweater 4 Sweater 5 Sweater 6 Sweater 7 Sweater 8 Sweater 9

And the Challenge (Contest) is on!!!

I am not one bit artistically creative so I will list my favourtie colours. I love a light blue (sky blue) a bright orange, a lime green and purple.
I was only commenting today on a blog and quoting you. Once you said you couldn’t write but you had spent ages drawing a picture and you wondered how many words it would take to write a post of the picture. I now look at all art in that way.

Awe thanks Tric, I think you do have an artistic eye, you chose some pretty colors. I will let you know on the 15th if you are a winner. The colors that everyone has sent me are great, it is going to be hard to chose just 3 of them.
