What If Moments Part 2

I am always amazed when things happen that are coincidences.   I can’t tell you how many times my husband would prepare a sermon for a church he was interim pasturing at when we would get to the church and the pianist would have picked out the perfect songs to complement the message.  Always without the two of them talking before hand.  I know that there is nothing that is a coincidence.  It was just God’s perfect planning coming to fruition.  I tell you this because this week I have had that same thing happen to me.

God sized dream

(in)Couraging God Sized Dreamers (from a Facebook post)

I wrote and posted my last post “What If Moments” at 10:45pm on June 4th.  The next morning a new friend posted a picture in a Facebook group that just felt like one of those Gibbs moments when I got smacked upside the head, just like Gibbs does to Dinozzo on NCIS when he does something silly.   Because the picture might be smaller this is what the photo post said “You will have to fight for your dream.  There will never be the ‘right’ time.  There will never be the ‘perfect opportunity.’  There will never be the ‘easy way.’  If your dream is going to come into being, it’s going to take a lot of hard work, perseverance, and leaps of faith with Jesus that you never thought you could complete.”

I know that there is never going to be a right time for me.  If I could ignore this urging to follow my dream it would make my life easier.  I would not have to face the hurts, pains, and demons of my past.  I could pretend that the stuff was not important.  But another friend recently said something that captured me.  We were talking about recovering from things in our lives and she said the scars from our childhood even the little things that we didn’t realize was a scar were a barrier to our recovery. (I am paraphrasing – putting in the words that I needed to hear at that moment).  She is right.  My childhood scars, while they are all internal, they are the things that I will be scraping away as I go through the process of attempting to live my God-sized dream.

Okay, the second thing that happened with me, another smack upside the head happened today.  I was visiting with a dear friend and while she was out of the room for few minutes I decided to take advantage of the time and started reading a book titled “Opening the Door to Your God-Sized Dream”  By Holley Gerth.  I have been slowly reading this, a paragraph here or there, not taking it seriously, putting it off as just another book to read when I had time.  Today I started over from the beginning and got to Chapter 3 – “Say Yes Anyway”.  And in the very first paragraph were the words “What if ….”  That chapter went right along with my thought on Wednesday.  I knew that this was a God-sized dream moment.  It is time for me to bite the bullet, to stop procrastinating and really start focusing on the path that I am feeling drawn to.

I have been doing something a little differently with my testimony, and maybe looking at it now, that is the path I am supposed to be on. Because I have it typed out, I have it available for people to read.  So instead of getting up in front of a large crowd, I am giving it to individual people to read.  These individuals are people that I trust and have known for a while.  For some reason doing this feels so much more comfortable than standing up on a stage in front of a group of strangers and telling a story that will shock most of them.  In fact, even though I have given hints here and there in some of my posts, most of you reading this post will have no idea what I am talking about.  Those of you that do know, thank you for all the support and love you continue to give me.

I know that I will continue to have those “What If” moments throughout my life.  That is just human nature.  Everyone has them.  My job is to learn that those are just stepping block on the next stage of my journey.  Yes, stepping block, not stumbling blocks.  Even if it seems like you are not following the path of the God-sized Dream that you are journeying on, the what if’s could just be God’s prompting for you to think in a different way.  Taking you in a different direction than the one you thought you were supposed to be on.  The outcome will be nothing short of amazing when you look back at the path you took to find and fulfill your God-sized dream.

Dream big people, we only have one life, so start living outside your comfort zone.   After all:  “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”   ~Mark Twain

Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”~Gail Devers

Even the longest journey starts with a single step. Best wishes with your continuing journey, you are doing brilliantly.

Thanks Tric, I am still procrastinating. The time I am wasting playing games should be the time that I spend writing. It is going to be a long, difficult journey. I am looking forward to it. This might sound weird, but in a strange way I feel that this procrastination is something I am supposed to be doing. It is in these moments that my brain is turning and spinning and developing a structure.
