I used to write poetry all the time.  Digging through more of my stashed hoarding stuff I finally found the poems I had been looking for for a while.  During a discussion with my mom back in 1996 we discussed her fascination with dead trees.  After that discussion I started looking at these trees and started seeing the beauty of their stark branches.  Knowing how much I used to write, she asked me to write her a poem about a dead tree.  I wrote the following poem June 19,1996.

Oh Dear Lord,

Why have you forsaken me?

I stand here with my branches

stretched to the sky

bowed down in praise.

All gray and still

no more fruit to bare.

The joys of life

have disappeared.

All stark branches with

no life to see, I wish

Dear Lord to be what

I once used to be.

To rejoice in your magnificent

power and praise you with

summer blooms.

Dear Lord – Forsake me no longer!

Hey Mom, your comment worked. I know, I know. The quilt that never arrived… I was waiting on something that I ordered you way back last year for Christmas. It was out of stock for a really long time. It finally came in a couple weeks ago. Since I was waiting on that I was able to complete your picture too. So all three things will be coming in the same box once I dig the quilt out of the closet. I love you too!
