Early Mornings

Don’t you just love the early morning, that time when the world is still asleep.  There are no other sounds except the beauty of the birds singing.  No TV, no cars, no voices.  Just you and the quiet.  A time to just relax and start your day off in peaceful silence.  Those moments before the world comes crashing in are so enjoyable.

Now that my kids are grown and have flown the coop, I have more of these quiet moments than I did in the past, but they  are still just as peaceful and relaxing as when the boys were home.  By nature I am a night owl, when I don’t work I stay up to all hours of the night reading and crafting and other things.  This really throws off my routine of work and takes a few days to really get back on track.  But I still love it and I do that every time I have some free time.  I could easily sleep all day long and stay awake all night.

When I was in the Air Force during my last duty assignment I had to be at work by 6:30 am.  This meant that I had to get up no later than 5:00 if I wanted to rush.  I was usually up by 4:30 and I had those quiet times every morning as the kids and husband slept through my morning routines.  I loved it, because I was usually driving to base right at sunrise.  You haven’t seen a beautiful sunrise until you have seen one in the wide open Texas skies.  There were so many mornings that I didn’t want my drive to end because of the awesomeness of those beautiful paintings in the sky.  The colors were amazing, I can still picture them in my minds eye and I have been gone from Texas almost 20 years.

South Carolina has some beautiful sunrises too, the colors are amazing, but having to fight to see them through the trees gets annoying some mornings.  I don’t get to see as many sunrises because of my hours, but I see some very awesome sunsets on my drive home from work in the evenings.  So I guess I have traded my morning shot of bliss for an evening one.  But even though those sunsets are beautiful I sometimes miss the morning quiet.  Maybe that is why my body has decided in the last couple weeks that 6:30 is the time to be awake.  It needs the quiet time too.

it is a beautiful time of day, but so hard to wake up so early for me. I work now midnight to noon, so get to enjoy the mornings now, at least til I get off this trip. 🙂

I can picture in my memories the gorgeous sunrises coming over the ocean horizon. I was station in the Azores for 2 years, I fell in love with the beauty and wildness of the ocean there. Have a safe trip home.

I love the night hours and by nature love to stay up late. But having to be a morning person for the sake of working I’ve learned to love the brisk mornings, quite mornings, beautiful mornings. The day I retire I hope to stay up late and wake up early …… naturally and joyfully and without an alarm!!!!!

And thank you for your service!

I do too, I find the night hours are the ones I use to relax and rejuvenate. You’re welcome. I truly enjoyed my time in the service, I had wonderful bosses and a great career as an Administrator. I wish I were younger, so I could do it all over again. I really miss the camaraderie and atmosphere of the places that I worked.
