Ink Drawings

I have started creating ink drawings with gel pens and sharpies.  Several friends have suggested that they be created into quilts.  I have been looking at zentangle patterns for the designs in the pictures.  But the color on my drawings change them from traditional zentangles that are created using black ink.  Each of these pictures were created for a specific friend and they have all received their drawings as gifts. The pictures were drawn with that person in mind, their likes, favorite animals, favorite colors, etc.  Some of them were drawn as surprises based on what I know about each person.  Some of them were drawn as requests by people who had seen one of the pictures and they wanted something specific.  My favorite request was the one for a foot.  It turned out to be one of my favorite drawings because how can you mess up a foot.  I now have a waiting list of requests for drawings.

It has been suggested that I sell my pictures or draw a number of them and stock up, buy some cheap frames and then sell them during a festival.  I have never sold artwork, I have never bought artwork that was in a gallery.  I don’t know the first thing about putting a price on a drawing.  Plus I feel uncomfortable asking someone to pay for something that was created specifically for them.   How do I choose who to charge and who to make a pictures for for free?  At this time I have no plans to start charging, but  who’s to say that won’t happen in the future.  Right now I am just having fun exploring my creative side.  Next on my to do list is a butterfly for my nephew John’s girlfriend, a cat for my friend Rose, and a monster truck for my nephew Dylon.  Now that one is going to be fun!!
