Blank Pages

Blank Pages: This truly is a problem for me.  I see the blank pages and long to fill them.   I find myself listing the the things I want to write about.  The things that are tugging on my heart or my conscious.  The things that affect my daily life and how I interact with it and then I get distracted by something else and the page stays blank.  If this were a notebook I could doodle freely and make it look like I was taking notes or paying attention to what was going on around me.  But here in this blog it is just a blank page.  Unless I upload a picture there is no drawing here.

Life is a series of blank pages.  Your name is written on each page.  How you fill it is your choice.  Will you fill it with the people you love?  Will you fill it with care, compassion, encouragement? or Will you fill it with anger, disappointment, negativity?  I like to think that when you lay your head down on your pillow each night you are turning the page to a new creation.  When the first light of the new day peaks through your window and you greet the morning, your blank page opens with such possibilities.

I am a planner, I make schedules and organize my life in minute details.  When I taught computer classes I prepared my entire year in advance.  I knew by November what I would be teaching the next November.  Some people thought that was over kill, however, when I had a student ask when I would be teaching a specific subject again, I was able to tell them.  This did not leave a lot of room for a clean blank page.  In my new job I have become slightly better, I am only making a schedule one month at a time.  This time though I am planning for others.  They have to follow the schedule I give them.  This is sometimes difficult when there are times I know that I need a little extra from them.  I am filling up their blank pages with my activities and hoping that they will go along with what I choose.

So that means that our blank pages are intertwined.  We each have those moments in our day when we interact with others.  Our pages cross paths and some of your writing is mingled in with mine.  It is like a giant weaving loom filled with paper, the pages are floating in and around and beside each other.  I imagine them to be like a room filled with butterflies that are fluttering about.  It brings to mind the scene in Harry Potter with the flying keys.  You have to find the right blank page to continue on with your journey.  If you choose the right one you continue on in the direction your blank pages were leading you all along.  If you choose the wrong one, you end up heading in a direction that was totally unintentional.  Not that that is bad, just that the end outcome at the end of the day will have changed.

When you start your new blank page the next day, do you continue on with the unintentional path.  Or because it is a brand new page, do you start over and hope that you choose the right blank pages this time.  How long does it take to readjust your pages back onto the path that was intended.  Whose to say that that detour was not the right page all along?

Grab a new blank page in the morning, wipe your slate clean, start out with happiness, lead with joy, grasp the blank page in your hand and fill it with the bright bold colors of the universe.
